Transportation

There are currently many methods for the transportation of biological samples. For blood, specimens can be shipped as: 1) frozen plasma or frozen serum on dry ice; 2) dry blood spots (dried plasma card) (DBS) consisting of drops of blood dried onto a piece of filter paper at ambient temperatures; or 3) whole blood, serum, or plasma (including Cerebral Fluid) at ambient temperatures or refrigerated with overnight delivery. ViveST combines the benefits of a dried sample, convenient and economical shipping, and sample volumes up to 1.5mL of biological fluid. The result is a high-quality, cost-effective, way to transport biological samples, ideal for cutting costs, improving quality, enhancing access to healthcare in resource-limited countries, and eliminating the hassles associated with dry ice shipments.

Storage

The ability to store viable biological samples (specimens) at ambient temperatures and avoid the logistics and costs associated with cold storage for archival, research, or other purposes has the potential to significantly enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs within biological specimen collection. In addition, cold storage uses significant amounts of energy, contributes to greenhouse gases, and has the real risk of denaturing valuable specimens due to energy cutoffs. Efficient ambient temperature storage is an important benefit ViveST can bring to laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, biotech, and others.
